ADEPT and Renowned Digital Media Artist Laurence M. Gartel Collaborate Once Again To Support the Arts And Virtually Beyond.
When it comes to Pop Culture, Digital Media Artist Laurence Gartel has been on the “bleeding edge” for 40 years. Considered the “Father of Digital Art”, inventing and reinventing, Gartel has pushed the envelope on what is considered digital art and its applications. Internationally renowned, Gartel has made history as a digital media artist. He was digital before Photoshop was a click away and before the PC was in most homes. Gartel’s work has been exhibited in many museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art, Joan Whitney Payson Museum, Long Beach Museum of Art and Princeton Art Museum. His work can now be seen in Maurizio Vanni’sbook Warhol vs Gartel Hyp Pop. One of his greatest triumphs is the 2015 Official Artist of the 57th Annual Grammy Awards where he “wrapped” a one of a kind, large-scale Grammy Statue.
As the Chairman of the Art Fort Lauderdale Advisory Committee, Gartel has been busy this season. He is the feature COVER story in this months Boca Magazine entitled Full-on Season: Art, Music & Epic Parties and February’s Lighthouse Point Magazine dubbed Gartel the “Pixel Pioneer” with an article on the Father of Digital Art called Ahead of His Time. The artist has been seen on television nine times over the past two weeks as part of art events and happenings throughout South Florida. Gartel lectured on Friday, January 26 at Bahia Mar Resort in Fort Lauderdale discussing his new book, Warhol vs Gartel Hyp Pop authored by Lucca MuseumDirector Maurizio Vanni in Italy. The artist does not seem to stop, with upcoming retrospective exhibit at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center from February 22 to March 27. The exhibit will trace the evolution of technology and digital art through Gartel’s visionary work.
The new collaboration is timely as ADEPT ventures into the Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR) market space. Details about the company's new digital enterprise is anticipated to be released sometime in the first quarter of 2018. ADEPT has long-standing relationships with a variety of local and international artists and has promoted numerous art galleries since the firm was founded in 2013. As a strong supporter of the Fort Lauderdale and South Florida art community, ADEPT intermittently rotates local artists work throughout its Fort Lauderdale office. Clients have the opportunity to not only view the art, but purchase as well. “Continuing our tradition of bold office walls, ADEPT has hung seven of Gartel’s pieces throughout the office. His work is extraordinary and creates a colorful, fun and artistic environment for me to work in,” said Julie Ruffolo, Managing Partner at ADEPT.
The pieces promote Gartel’s career ranging from 1993’s retro Design Electronica, the 2013 Art Cars New York International Art Show poster to 2014’s Nuvo Japonica 2 that took place at Adriano Temple, Piazza di Pietra, in Rome, Italy. “Gartel has exhibited his work worldwide and we are fortunate to have a few pieces to display during this year’s art season,” said Dana Pollitt, Managing Partner at ADEPT. “As ADEPT forges new and existing alliances into the VR, AR, and MR sector, we are encouraged that strengthening our relationships with icons such as Gartel prove to be rewarding,” concluded Pollitt.
